FAQ
What is diatomite?
Diatomite is a natural, sedimentary rock made from fossilized algae. It is highly porous, which allows it to absorb moisture instantly and evaporate it quickly, keeping your countertop dry and preventing bacterial growth.
Is the mat sanitary?
Yes. Unlike cloth drying mats that stay damp and can harbor smells, the rapid-drying nature of stone prevents mold and bacteria from thriving. It stays fresh and odor-free naturally.
Does the rack come attached?
No. It is flat packed to save on shipping and package waste, so some assembly is required.
How do I clean the stone mat?
For light cleaning, simply wipe it down with a damp cloth. Do not use soap or detergent, as this can clog the stone's pores and reduce absorbency.
What if it gets stained?
For tougher stains or scuff marks, use a fine-grit sandpaper to gently buff the surface. This also "refreshes" the stone, making it absorb like new again.
Can I put it in the dishwasher?
No. The high heat and detergents in a dishwasher can damage the natural stone and warp the bamboo rack. Hand cleaning is quick and sufficient.
